Why I Love 1819 Coffee in Thompson Station, TN

One of my favorite places to be is in a cozy chair in the Manor House at 1819 Coffee in Thompson Station, Tennessee. There’s something about this historic place that brings me unexplainable joy every time I go. I try to make it there once a week for an afternoon of work and, of course, a large hazelnut latte. I don’t know if it’s the history behind those walls, the kind people, or the delicious coffee. All I know is that it’s a place I go back to again and again.

What is 1819 Coffee in Thompson Station, TN

1819 Coffee is a coffee shop located on the Homestead Manor property in Thompson Station, Tennessee. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1819, and was once ground zero for 6,000 Civil War soldiers.

The Manor House has been many things over the past 200 years. It was once a post office, a general store, and now a church. There are many events that happen on the property today, from weddings to events.

Why I Love 1819 Coffee

One of my favorite things about 1819 Coffee is their mission to provide a welcoming, peaceful place that makes people feel like they’re home. I love this because it can feel a little lonely being so far from our family in Indiana. Every week, when I walk through the Manor House door, I feel at home away from home.

The Atmosphere

There’s really only one way I can describe 1819’s atmosphere: it’s community-centered. From the time you order your coffee to the second you drive away, you feel like you’re a part of something larger than yourself.

The People

Every person I meet at 1819 Coffee is so kind. From the baristas to those visiting the area, they all have smiles on their faces. That makes it easy to feel welcomed. No one wants to walk into a coffee shop and feel out of place; that’s the worst feeling.

The Drinks

And of course, the coffee at 1819 Coffee is a huge reason I love visiting. They’ve got all your standard drinks, but they make the coffee syrups themselves. These scratch-made syrups make a huge difference in the flavor of the drinks. It’s so hard to pick a favorite!

My Favorite 1819 Coffee Menu Items

Oh goodness, the menu at 1819 Coffee is absolutely wonderful. There’s something for everyone. If you’re not a coffee kind of person, they’ve got delicious teas, hot chocolate, and chai lattes available. If you’re in the mood for a sweet treat to go along with your cup of joe, they’ve got a variety of baked goods as well.

Homemade Syrups

My favorite part about 1819 Coffee’s menu is their homemade syrups. They’ve got hazelnut, vanilla, caramel, salted caramel, blueberry, and lavender. My favorites are the blueberry and hazelnut added to a hot oat milk latte.

Whitney’s Cookies

In the baked goods display case, you’ll find the most delicious cookies made by Whitney Miller, the MasterChef Season 1 winner. She has her own cookie shop in downtown Franklin, but you can also pick one up here at 1918. I highly recommend the chocolate chip!

Seasonal Drinks

Every month, the baristas at 1819 whip up a seasonal drink that’s always so delicious, and the syrups they use are also homemade! This year for Valentine’s Day, they had a cherry cordial latte and a chocolate-covered strawberry latte. They were spectacular!

Hot Chocolate

When I’m not feeling like a coffee or we stop in later in the day, I love getting a hot chocolate. My husband, Tyler, loves sipping on a large cup while working. It’s always got the perfect blend of chocolate.

Around The Manor House

The Homestead Manor House is my favorite part of 1819 Coffee. It’s located right beside the coffee shop, and it has three floors. The first floor is open to enjoy any room. The second floor is available to be rented for events, and the third floor is closed.

Each room of the manor house has its own look. My favorite room is the study. It’s filled with all kinds of books and cozy chairs to sit on. Throughout the house, you’ll find art that’s available for purchase. I love browsing them each time I visit.

Outside in the Boxwood Garden

Just in front of the Manor House, you’ll find the beautiful boxwood garden. It’s a stoned area with cute cafe tables and large trees overhead. When it gets dark, the small fairy lights turn on and create a beautiful area for you to enjoy. I love sitting in the boxwood garden on balmy days and listening to the birds chirp in the nearby trees!
