Sourdough Ham and Cheese Crescent Ring

Molly LaFontaine
My sourdough ham and cheese crescent ring is made with homemade sourdough crescent rolls—no need for canned dough here! It's made with wholesome ingredients and simple steps. It's perfect for lunch, and leftovers reheat wonderfully! I hope you love it as much as my husband, Tyler, and I do!

Servings 8 crescent roll ups

Ingredients

  • 1 batch of unbaked sourdough crescent roll dough (my recipe linked below in notes)
  • 8 uncured ham slices (I use ham off the bone without added preservatives, nitrates, or nitrites)
  • 8 mild cheddar cheese slices
  • egg wash: 1 egg + 1 Tbsp milk combined
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard (I use organic but regular works)
  • 1 tsp poppyseeds - optional
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper and preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Slice the Crescent Dough

  • Lightly dust counter with flour and roll homemade crescent dough into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick (approximately a 15 x 11 rectangle).
  • Using a pizza cutter or knife, slice dough in half horizontally so you have two rectangles. Then slice both sections in half vertically to make 4 rectangles. Finally, slice each rectangle in half diagonally so you have 8 triangles.

Make the Crescent Ring

  • Place crescent dough triangles on parchment lined sheet pan by placing the large ends of the triangles in an oval shape, overlapping their edges, around the pan. The pointy end of the triangles should be hanging off the sides.
  • Add 1 slice of ham and cheese to each triangle in the middle, between the triangle's pointy and large end.
  • Roll each triangle, by folding in the point end in and rolling over ham and cheese. Press down rolled dough into the large end to create a seal. Repeat with all 8.
  • Combine egg wash, mustard, poppyseeds, and sea salt in a small bowl. Whisk until completely combined and brush on top of crescent ring. You will have extra topping, discard or save for another use.
  • Bake 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  • Slice each roll up for individual servings and enjoy!
