4 Savory Sourdough Scones
These four scone recipes are perfect for when you’re craving something savory. There are so many delicious sweet scones, but you hardly ever think of the savory flavors. From jalapeño cheddar to ham and cheese, there’s a kind for everyone.

Sourdough Jalapeno Cheddar Scones
Sourdough jalapeno cheddar scones are the perfect savory treat. They’re full of shredded cheddar cheese and chunks of jalapeno. Each bite gives the perfect balance of heat and flavor! In our house these scones are enjoyed as an afternoon snack or along with lunch.

Sourdough Jalapeno Popper Scones
These sourdough jalapeño popper scones are a mix of bacon, cheddar, jalapeños, and cream cheese! When you take a bite, your brain will automatically think you’re taking a bite out of a jalapeno popper. They’re so savory and full of flavor. You’re going to make these and wonder why you didn’t sooner!

Sourdough Ham and Cheese Scones
These savory sourdough ham and cheese scones are the perfect way to use up leftover holiday ham. They’re simple and easy to whip up and make the perfect lunch throughout the week. Each bit is full of cheddar cheese, tangy sourdough, and bits of ham. Eat them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You won’t be disappointed!

Sourdough Cheese Scones
These sourdough cheese scones made from scratch are one of my favorite lunchtime recipes to whip up. They’re so simple to make, and they taste amazing! We like to pair them with a side of bacon and berries for a complete meal. Each bite is full of flaky, pillowy scone, sourdough tang, and cheddar cheese. What’s not to like?!
Tips Making Savory Sourdough Scones
- Avoid overworking/over mixing the dough.
- Freeze scones for a minimum of 10 minutes before baking for best results. Don’t skip this.
- You can use either sourdough discard or fed starter for this recipe (both turn out great).
- When cutting the butter into the dry ingredients use a cheese grater instead to make the process easier.
- Always use cold stick butter, never margarine.
