Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker or crockpot

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef (frozen or thawed) (85% grass-fed organic)
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup water or vegetable broth
  • 2 cloves raw garlic (see notes)
  • 2 cups shredded or sliced provolone cheese (see notes)

Instructions

  • First, chop your onion and green bell pepper into small pieces (medium dice)
  • Then lightly grease your slow cooker with olive oil or avocado oil to prevent sticking and add in the chopped vegetables.
  • Next, add in your ground beef, garlic, salt, pepper, and water (or broth).
  • Then, cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours (5 if beef is thawed, 6 if frozen).
  • Finally, 30 minutes before the cooking time is finished, uncover and stir/break up the beef and add cheese on top. Let it finish cooking for 30 minutes and serve on your favorite bun or bread.

Notes

  • If you don't have raw garlic substitute 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • You can use any cheese. My favorites are provolone, swiss cheese, or mild cheddar.
  • You can use thawed or frozen beef
  • When choosing herbs, garlic, and vegetables it is best to get locally sourced or organic for the most nutritional benefit.
