What does a strawberry parfait taste like?
If you’ve never had a parfait you may be wondering what it tastes like so let me explain. A parfait has a few different flavor notes that tie together beautifully. It’s got a tangy cream as a base, a sweet berry flavor, and a crunchy oat taste from the granola. It’s the perfect snack, breakfast, or lunch option!
Best yogurt for this recipe
The best yogurt for this parfait recipe is unsweetened plain Greek yogurt. The reason for this is to allow the sweet, freshness of the strawberry mixture to shine. I promise you don’t need sweetened yogurt, the berry mixture tastes so much better! You can also opt for almond, cashew, or coconut yogurt as a plant-based option. If you don’t like Greek yogurt or plant-based yogurts, use plain unsweetened, or vanilla yogurt.
Best Strawberries for this recipe
The best berries for this parfait recipe are frozen organic strawberries. Frozen berries are important for the consistency of the parfait. It gives it an ice cream-type texture and it’s so good! Also, the strawberries being organic are not just for health purposes but also flavor. Frozen strawberries can be on the sour side but when choosing organic, they’re almost always so much tastier! (Don’t get regular sweetened frozen strawberries, those are riddled with refined sugar and are not a healthy option)
Can I make this strawberry parfait recipe vegan?
Yes, you can! Instead of Greek yogurt use a plant-based option such as almond, cashew, or coconut yogurt. Find one that is unsweetened and it’ll be amazing! Also instead of honey, use pure maple syrup to sweeten this recipe.
