The Best Oven Baked Sliders

When it comes to game day recipes, you want something gooey, cheesy, and savory. That’s exactly what these sliders provide.

I use uncured Canadian ham and provolone cheese to make a delicious slider bun filler. Then, the brushed-on garlic butter not only adds flavor but also helps crisp the tops of the buns. We’ve got these sliders on repeat in our house!

Choosing the Slider Buns

When it comes to choosing the buns, the best option would be to make them at home with your sourdough starter. If you don’t have a starter, grab my free guide to make your own. It walks you through every step of the way so you don’t get overwhelmed!

I’ve got the easiest sourdough slider bun recipe here on the blog. The buns come out soft and fluffy just like you’d want them! They’ve completely replaced the store-bought buns in our house.

Choosing the Filling

When it comes to the filling, I highly recommend finding uncured Canadian bacon or ham. This will protect you from harmful additives found in lunch meat. I like the uncured Canadian bacon from Costco. It’s affordable and so much more wholesome than deli meat.

You can also use leftover ham slices from holiday meals for these sliders!

For the cheese, I recommend using sliced provolone cheese. This cheese melts down perfectly for these sliders and adds a creamy texture.

Substitutions & Variations

  • Cheeses: You can swap the provolone for Swiss cheese, mild cheddar cheese, and even gouda.
  • Buns: I highly recommend making them at home, but you can use store-bought slider buns.
  • Ham: You can swap the uncured Canadian bacon for uncured ham, chicken, and even turkey. I just recommend sticking with some kind of uncured meat. If you have leftover holiday ham or turkey, this would be a great way to use up the leftovers!
  • Garlic Butter Topping: If you really don’t want to use the garlic butter topping, you can skip this part, but I do recommend using it.
