Instead of buying prepackaged snacks all the time, I make easy options from scratch to save money. This popcorn recipe is one of two currently on the blog. My other recipe is a 5-minute fall snack mix that combines popcorn with smoked paprika, pistachios, and chocolate chips. Be sure to check that one out as well!

Garlic Parmesan Popcorn Recipe Inspiration

With the weather cooling down and daylight fading earlier, we’re watching more and more movies. In our house, we always love a big bowl of popcorn for movie night. This love led me to experiment with two of our favorite flavors, garlic and parmesan, to create a unique take on the classic movie night snack.

Why You’ll Love this Recipe

  • Super easy recipe to make from scratch
  • Gives you a different flavor profile to mix up your snacking
  • Tastes amazing with parmesan flakes and garlic powder in every bite

Garlic Parmesan Popcorn Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup popcorn kernels (organic is best)
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 Tbsp butter (grass-fed is best, salted or unsalted)
  • 1/2 cup grated fresh parmesan cheese (not the prepacked kind)

How to Make Garlic Parmesan Popcorn

  1. Pop the popcorn kernels, preferably in an air popper, into a large bowl.
  2. While this is popping, melt butter in a pan over medium heat on the stovetop.
  3. Add garlic and salt to the melted butter and mix to combine.
  4. Sprinkle shredded parmesan over popped popcorn and add in the garlic butter mixture.
  5. Stir to combine and enjoy!

Storing Instructions

I highly recommend only making what you plan to eat with this recipe. Garlic parmesan popcorn is a little hard to store but not impossible. With fresh parmesan that needs refrigerated we start running into storage issues.

So I would suggest popping the popcorn ahead of time and storing it in an air-tight bowl in the pantry. Don’t add any ingredients to this until you’re ready to eat.
