I love whipping up this lemonade during mango season. It’s so refreshing, especially on hot summer days!

I highly recommend enjoying it with a savory snack on the side. A few of my husband and I’s favorites are sourdough cheese straws and sourdough pretzel bites.

Ingredients

  • lemons: I like to use organic but regular lemons work really well
  • raw cane sugar: you could also use coconut sugar or regular sugar if desired
  • water: I just use water from the tap that’s been filtered through our LifeStraw pitcher
  • mangos: make sure they’re ripe, they should be a little soft when you squeeze them

How to Make Mango Lemonade

squeezing lemon into a pitcher over a strainer

Grab a pitcher you plan to serve this lemonade in and a small fine mesh strainer. Slice lemons in half and squeeze into the pitcher through the strainer to catch the seeds. (You can also squeeze lemons into a bowl then add juice to the pitcher after removing seeds.)

stirring sugar and lemon juice in a pitcher

Add cane sugar to pitcher and stir until dissolved. Set aside.

mangoes getting cup up for lemonade

Cut mangos, one at a time, into chunks by cutting the end with the stem off then the 2 cheeks and sides, discarding the seed. Score each piece into chunks removing them from the skin with your thumb or knife (watch my YouTube video tutorial for help).

mango getting blended in a blender

Add mango chunks into a blender with 3 cups of water, blending on high for 30 seconds or until completely smooth. Pour mango juice into the pitcher (use a fine mesh strainer if you want it really smooth).

Add 2 cups of water to the pitcher, stir until combined and enjoy over ice! Best served after a few hours of chilling in the fridge. Stir before serving each time.

My Tips

  1. Read the recipe before getting started so you know what to expect.
  2. Wait to make any adjustments until you’ve made it once.
  3. Strain the mango juice for the best texture.
  4. Use fresh mangos and lemons for the best taste.

How to Store

Store homemade lemonade in the fridge, covered or uncovered, for up to 5 days, although it’s best if enjoyed within 3 days.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use frozen mango?

You’re more than welcome to use frozen mango, but it will make a mango lemonade slushie, not the regular lemonade consistency.

How do I cut up a mango?

On YouTube, I have a video tutorial for this recipe and one by itself for cutting up a mango. I highly recommend watching one of those!

Can I use bottled lemon juice that’s pure?

Sure! You’re more than welcome to use that as long as there aren’t any added sugars or ingredients besides lemon juice. You’ll need about 6-8 Tbsp of juice.

Can I make this recipe ahead?

Yes! You can make it 2-3 days ahead. The flavor gets better after it chills, anyway.
